Professor, Department of Economics, °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ American Council on Education
Fellow (2006-2007). He received his B.A. from the College of Wooster and Ph.D. from
Temple University. His research area is sports economics, focused primarily on compensation
schemes, incentives and monopsony power. He has also published in the areas of family
labor supply and post-secondary pedagogy. Teaching interests include microeconomic
theory, the economics of sports and the economics of health and healthcare. Professor
von Allmen is the co-author of two textbooks: The Economics of Sports (with Michael
Leeds and Victor Matheson), now in its seventh edition, and Economics (with Michael
Leeds and Richard Schiming). He previously served as the president of the North American
Association of Sports Economics ().
